The angels came for Wynelle McNair, age 93, on June 4, 2018, after an illness of two weeks. She was the oldest child of George and Jessie Pope McNair. She was born December 5, 1924, in Orlando, Fla. The family returned to Georgia and she attended school in Calvary, Ga. through the 7th grade. They moved to the Pine Forest Community in Decatur County and she graduated from Climax High School in 1942.
On October 25, 1943, she married Glenn Fewell and they were married 67 years until his death in 2010. They lived in the Bell Dixon Community and they raised their children on the family farm. She devoted her life to her family and the Lord. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Climax, Ga..
She is survived by her children, Judy Whitfield and her husband, Roger, of Cairo, Ga., Faye Gowen and her husband, Jim, of St. Simons Island, Ga., Marcia Fewell of Bainbridge, Ga., and Daniel Fewell and his wife, Marlis, of Climax. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Michael & Stacey Gowen, Mark & Deanna Whitfield, Lesli & John McQuigg, Stacie & Lane Lucas, Shannon & Pat Angle, Heather & Roger Anderson, Zachary & Liz Gowen, Selena Odom, Gavin and Sadie Fewell and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert & Dorothy McNair; a sister-in-law, Mildred McNair and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant great-grandson, Hudson McQuigg, a brother, John E. “Buck” McNair, and a sister, Joyce McNair Thompson.
The service will be held at Ivey Funeral Home on Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tim Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Climax. Her grandsons, Michael Gowen, Mark Whitfield, Zachary Gowen, Gavin Fewell, John McQuigg, Lane Lucas, Pat Angle, Jimmy McQuigg, Wyatt Whitfield and Randall Gowen will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Ivey Funeral Home.
