Katie Lee Love was born August 23, 1934, in Colquitt, Ga., the daughter of Jeff and Betty Pate Love. She was a graduate of Miller County High School and worked with Department of Family and Children Services until her retirement. Katie was married to Sam A. Kale who preceded her in death. She was a member of West Bainbridge United Methodist Church.
“Miss Katie” was quite a character. She never met a stranger, especially after working thirty years at DFACS. She enjoyed traveling, listening to country and southern gospel music, and crafts. “Miss Katie” loved to volunteer at Vacation Bible School helping with the cooking and the crafts. She could cook most anything but is known for her biscuits and sausage gravy. Though she gave up her time to do things with other people, “Miss Katie” could always squeeze in a fishing trip especially if her sister or Al, Jr. had the tackle box ready.
Survivors include her sister, Ruthie Shellman of Augusta, Ga.; her grandchildren, Cara Kale Lynn and her husband, Jeff, and Al Kale, Jr. and his wife, Brittany, all of Bainbridge; and her great-grandchildren, Carson, Preston, Maci, Kaylee and Tripp. In addition to her parents and her husband, “Miss Katie” was preceded in death by her brother, William J. Love, and her son, Al Kale, Sr.
