Laverne Day Bellville, 84, of Birmingham, Ala., formerly of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Farrow officiating.  Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens.  Scott Berry, Philip Calagaz, Dennis Day, Terry Day, Andre Magueur, Stanley Keaton, Ronnie Keaton and Greg Wiggins, will serve as active pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rusty Day, Lavon Day, Timmy Day, Rex Keever, Sydney Cochran, Johnny Grimsley, and Robert Christian.

Laverne Day was born April 24, 1934, in Bainbridge, Ga., the daughter of John Russell Day and Laura Frances Dean Day.  She was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School Class of 1951.  She was nominated for Woman of the Year in 1977 by the American Cancer Society, served as President of the Decatur County Unit of the American Cancer Society, Treasurer of the Ladies Golf Association, Leader of a Brownie Scout Troop, and as Secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Medical Association.  She was a member of the VFW Post 4902 Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered for the Blood Mobile drives.  Laverne was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include her children, Debbie Bellville Wiggins of Vestavia Hills, Ala. and Brad Bellville and his wife, Kim, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; her stepchildren, Dr. Charles George Bellville, Jr. and his wife, Ellie, of Portland, Oregon, Brian Bellville of Atlanta, Ga., and Enid Bellville Cantrell of Helotes, Tex; her grandchildren, Lauren Wiggins Calagaz (Philip), Jessie Wiggins Barry (Scott), Allison Leigh Wiggins, Hunter Bellville, Winston Bellville, Peyton Powell, Parker Powell, and Leslie Adams Mack; and her great-grandchildren, Ella Scott Barry, Charlotte Barry, Bennett Calagaz, and Lawson Calagaz. Laverne was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles Bellville; her brothers, Welton Russell Day, Jesse Earnest Day, John Bernard Day, Jimmy Nathan Day, and Charles Herman Day; his sister, Flonnie Day Keaton; and her parents.
