The Bainbridge High School Lady Bearcat varsity soccer team won two of three contests recently, defeating both Brooks County and Dougherty High School, but dropping a contest to Warner Robins last week.

On Monday night the Lady Bearcats rebounded from a 9-0 loss to Warner Robins last Friday, and defeated Brooks County 1-0 at Trojan field in Quitman.

The lone goal of the contest came in the 62nd minute as Bainbridge Junior Forward Mabry Briggs intercepted a Brooks County Goal Kick and quickly struck the ball to the near post, scoring a goal from 19 yards out.

Bainbridge controlled possession for the majority of the contest, as Lady Bearcat Freshman Goal Keeper Keilaya Pryor recorded 2 saves in the Shutout win.

On Tuesday Bainbridge hosted the Dougherty High School Lady Trojans, on Senior night, and responded with six first half goals in route to a 8-0 victory.

Briggs continued her scoring streak, for the Lady Cats, by knocking in a ball in the 2nd minute of the game to give Bainbridge a quick 1-0 lead. Her 8 yard scoring strike came as the result of an angled pass by Bainbridge Senior Midfielder Courtney Clark, that deflected off of a Lady Trojan defender that Briggs controlled and shot just past an onrushing Brooks County goalkeeper.

In the 12th minute Senior Lady Cat Midfielder Kamerin Timmons scored from 12 yards out to increase the Bainbridge lead at 2-0.

Briggs again influenced the scoring play as she dribbled deep into the Lady Trojan penalty area, and then sent a drop pass to Timmons, who calmly pushed the ball forward before striking and sending it just inside the post to the back of the nets from 14 yards out.

Bainbridge Sophomore Midfielder Jamya Brinson made the score 3-0, in the 20th minute, as she curled a corner kick over the Lady Trojan Goal Keeper’s head and tucked into the goal at the far post.

With 16 minutes remaining in the first half Lady Bearcat Midfielder Taylor Emmons split two Dougherty County Defenders and sent a long low shot from 25 yards out which resulted in the fourth goal of the match to increase the Bainbridge lead at 4-0.

Lady Bearcat Senior Midfielder Courtney Clark received a pass from Brinson in the 27th minute and redirected it for a scoring goal from 6 yards out to give Bainbridge a 5-0 lead.

The final goal of the first half came with three minutes remaining as Freshman Forward Sarah Victor scored on a shot from 8 yards out following a pass from Junior Midfielder Kaila Padron.

The final two goals of the game came in the 49th minute and 54th minute of the contest.
