The king is throwing a ball; follow the invitation to the Kirbo Center Auditorium Thursday night, for the opening night of Cinderella.

The cast of Bainbridge High School’s Cinderella has been hard at work, after receiving their costumes Sunday night.

Auditions took place in January for the production and ever since then the cast has been practicing in the classroom.

“We’ve been compromising space in a small classroom,” fairy godmother, Alaya Schuyler said.

The cast was extremely happy when they started practicing in the Kirbo Center auditorium Tuesday night, complete with costumes, set and props.

“It really brings the whole thing to life,” Schuyler said. “You have an image of what it will look like in your head and then you see it in person and it’s better than what you imagined.”

Evil stepsisters, Lauren Howard and Jacklyn Hill, were especially happy to be in their costumes. They said they have some quick changes and felt lucky to have the other to help them get ready and be able to practice those quick changes.

Other special effects everyone was looking forward to seeing, such as the carriage, dress transformation and projection backgrounds wowed the cast as well.

The ladies described the scene as magical and hope the community will enjoy it as much as they do.

Schuyler said she feels a little nervous about opening night because it is her last production as a senior, but she has had so much fun putting it together that she knows the fear will melt away.

Director, Leigh Powell is just as excited as the cast.

“I am so proud of the cast,” she said. “They have come so far with such a wide variety of kids to make something so great.”

Cinderella and the Prince were not available for comment about the production, but will make their debut Thursday night and are promised to wow everyone.

Tickets cost $5 for general admission and $10 for reserved seating, which consists of the front few rows.

The play will be held April 19th and 20th at 7:00 p.m. and April 21st at 2:00 p.m.
