Local farmer, Jan Jones could be seen on RFD-TV Friday night as she made her debut on their hit television show, FarmHer.

The show features a glimpse of agriculture through the female perspective. Each episode is about a different woman who thrives in agriculture and makes a difference in the lives of their families, communities and around the world. In addition, female producers film the show.

RFD-TV contacted Jones last October to see about filming her. Jones was unsure how they found her, but believes it was because she was involved with Georgia Farm Bureau and the Georgia Young Farmers State Committee.

When the women came to film, Hurricane Irma had just passed so the crops were somewhat damaged. However, the producers were determined to learn about Jones’ peanuts farm. Jones showed them her cow pasture and then took them to her peanut patch. Jones said the episode really focused on the importance of peanut farming and her as a fifth generation farmer.

Jones was a little nervous about the thought of filming.

“It was nerve wracking,” she said. “It’s a little mind boggling to think all these people will be watching me.”

Jones nerves calmed down when she met the producers, though. She said the woman who interviewed her was easy to talk to and it felt like she was talking with a friend.

Jones episode premiered Friday night at 9:30 p.m. and will air again on Sunday night at 9:30 on RFD-TV.
