Most everyone knows Harold Allen. If not, he is the long distance runner who can be seen running all around town. He has been recognized in The Post Searchlight for his countless 100-mile runs and he works in the surgery department at Memorial Hospital.

In recognition of May being Mental Health Awareness month, he has committed to run 812.2 miles during the month. That breaks down to 26.2 miles per day for 31 days—rain or shine.

Memorial Manor is assisting in his fundraiser to raise awareness of mental health illnesses and  treatments.

Friday, April 13 was a really big day for Harold. The Manor held a lunch fundraiser, selling hotdogs, chili dogs, chip dogs and soda in the downstairs classroom of Memorial Hospital as a way of kicking off the fund drive.

Friday was also the day his new baby girl, Faith Jean Allen, was born at 7:41 a.m. at Memorial Hospital. The mother is Kimberly James and the little girl weighed in at 7 lbs. 7 oz.
