Bearcats baseball team swarms the Hornets

The Bainbridge baseball team kept runners moving around the bases Wednesday night against Pelham, beating the Hornets 12-1 in five innings.

The Bearcats (12-1) had seven hits and were led by big hitters Will Kelley and Ivan Velasquez.

Bainbridge got on the board in the first inning when Kelley singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Bainbridge notched five runs in the fourth inning. Caleb Boutwell, Walt Burrell, and Ivan Velasquez all knocked in runs in the inning.

Cayden Sconyers led the Bearcats to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed two hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking one.

Gunner Wisham took the loss for Pelham. He lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out two.

Dakota McEntyre started the game for Pelham. He surrendered seven runs on four hits over two and a third innings, striking out one.

Velasquez led Bainbridge High School Varsity with two hits in three at bats.

Bainbridge’s next game is Wednesday against Tift County. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m. at the Bearcat Diamond.
