Bainbridge will salute America’s veterans and active military Thursday at the Bearcat Diamond for the second annual Military Appreciation Night.

Started last year as a way for the Bainbridge baseball program to honor those who have served or are currently serving, Military Appreciation Night is just a small way to salute the men and women who keep our country safe.

If you are in the military or are a veteran, you are invited to attend the Bearcats’ game against Cairo free of charge. You’ll be honored on the field before the game and shake hands with the Bearcat players.

Bainbridge fomer city councilman and veteran Luther Conyers will throw out the first pitch to start the game. Conyers will also give a pregame speech to the players.

“Looking at last year when we started this thing, we are hoping we can grow that number this year and continue to grow it in the future,” baseball coach Brian McCorkle said. “Every former current military veteran would be there tonight so we can honor them for the contributions to this country.”

Veterans who would like to participate should arrive at the Bearcat Diamond at 4:30 p.m. this Thursday. The military appreciation ceremony will begin after both teams warm up, shortly after 5 p.m.
