Bearcats split with Yellow Jackets

Eight runs in the third inning led Bainbridge past Thomas County Central 9-1 in game one on Friday. Will Kelley, Caleb Boutwell, Ivan Velasquez, Michael Conder and Conner Strickland powered the big inning with RBIs.

Thomas County Central fired up the offense in the first inning. An error scored one run for Thomas County Central.

In the bottom of the first inning, Bainbridge High School Varsity tied things up at one when Kelley doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Bainbridge pulled away for good with eight runs in the third inning. In the third Boutwell doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, Velasquez singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and Strickland doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Nick Barber pitched the Bearcats victory. He lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out 11.

Ryan Joseph Delaney took the loss for Thomas County Central. He allowed five hits and nine runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

Bainbridge scattered eight hits in the game. Boutwell and Velasquez all managed multiple hits for Bainbridge High School Varsity. Velasquez and Boutwell all had two hits to lead Bainbridge High School Varsity.

Things didn’t go as well in game two. Bainbridge watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 5-0 loss. Thomas County Central scored on a single by Slade Taylor in the first inning and a double by Zach Fletcher in the second inning.

Thomas County Central fired up the offense in the first inning, when Taylor singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

One bright spot for Bainbridge was a single by Conner Strickland in the first inning.

Blake Kirkendoll earned the win for Thomas County Central. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out one. Fletcher threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Dalton Harrell took the loss for Bainbridge. He surrendered three runs on five hits over two and a third innings, striking out four.

Ivan Velasquez, Strickland, Caleb Boutwell, and Will Kelley all had one hit to lead Bainbridge.

Thomas County Central collected seven hits. Taylor and Jackson NeSmith each racked up multiple hits for Thomas County Central.
