Myrtice Louise Black was born January 3, 1931, in Newton, Ga., the daughter of Ennis Bertha Black and Levenia Norman Black. She married Alex William Davis in 1945. Mrs. Davis was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Davis was known for taking care of her people and being the peacemaker. She treated everybody as her family. She could cook most anything and never let a spot at her table go empty if she could help it. When she made biscuits, everyone wanted a seat at the table and would even take a spot standing if necessary. Many of the neighbors recall her being in the pea patch and acting as the recruiter for pea picking. Mrs. Davis was the perfect farmer’s wife and instilled that strong work ethic in her children. She had a rich Christian faith and raised her children to love the Lord. Springtime was her favorite season because she enjoyed watching the blooms burst forth with new life.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Davis and his wife, Gloria, Rusty Davis and his wife, Charlotte, Jackie Davis-Willis and her husband, John, and Deborah Davis Harrell and her husband, Mike, all of Bainbridge; her siblings, Tammy Taylor and Othelia Suggs, both of Donalsonville, Audrey Faircloth of Bainbridge, and Harvin Black of Thomasville; her grandchildren, Tina & Brian Kelly, Gina Davis, William “Bill” Davis, Al Davis, Becky & Bruce Guest, Mary Ann & Mike Parsons, Kristy & David Seoane, Misty & Earnest Loyd, Kim & Will Bennett, Jessica & Shannon French, Alex “Bud” & Alycia Harrell, and Mandy Davis; her great-grandchildren, Christopher Kelly, Davis Kelly, Andrew Bullock, Taylor Bullock Sutton, Daneel Davis, Jackson Guest, Haley Parsons, Caleb Parsons, Emma Seoane, Christian Seoane, Mackenzie Antis, Ryan Antis, Trace Bennett, Camdyn Bennett, Eason Bennett, and Ty French; her great-great-grandchildren, Atticus Kelly and Ellie Sutton; and her faithful canine companion, Prissy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, A. W. “Bill” Davis; her son, Glenn Davis; and her siblings, C. L. Black, Huey Black, Hilton Black, Earl Black, Robert Black, Minnie Lee Moody, and Bertha Tatum.
