The Bainbridge Tennis Association was recently awarded the opportunity to host the USTA Georgia Southern Combo Doubles 18 & Over and 40 & Over State Championship for the next two years. While the association is excited they won the bid for the event, they worry about where their guests will stay.
The State Championship will bring approximately 400 players for three nights plus some of their spouses will be in attendance. When the association bid on the event, they were banking on 80 rooms at the Charter House, however with its recent closing they have tried to develop alternative ideas.
Carole Floyd, representative of the Bainbridge Tennis Association, is reaching out to Bainbridge residents to try and get them to open their homes to competitors during the duration of their stay. Floyd hopes residents will see this as a civic opportunity and not a fundraiser.
She asks for anyone interested to post their home for rent on Rentlikeachampion.com. The website allows for homeowners to post photos and list amenities their home offers. In addition, the website has no cost or sign-up fees and offers insurance of $1,000,000 for structural coverage and liability. They will handle payments, contracts, security deposits and insurance.
Floyd hopes she can get between 30-40 homeowners to list their home, so she can link the website when sending out information to players.
The tournament will be held October 26-28, 2018 and October 25-27, 2019. Anyone looking for additional information can contact Floyd, who has helped organize stays in the past.
