The Georgia Court of Appeals has recently affirmed the conviction of Kenneth Meredith.  Meredith was convicted of Child Molestation, Criminal Attempt to Commit Child Molestation, and Nine Counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children. 

Senior Judge Richard Porter presided over the criminal trial, which took place during February 2015.  Judge Porter sentenced Meredith to fifteen (15) years to serve in the State Penitentiary followed by thirty-five (35) years on probation.  Sex Offender Conditions were also imposed on the defendant.

Meredith had appealed to the Georgia Court of Appeals, arguing there wasn’t sufficient evidence to convict him at trial and that he had received ineffective assistance of counsel.  Judge Rickman, writing for the Court of Appeals, found both arguments to be without merit and contrary to established law. 

As a result, Meredith’s Conviction was upheld.

“Mr. Meredith’s sexual deviance and pedophilia left the victims in this matter, young children, scarred for life,” said Joe Mulholland, District Attorney for the South Georgia Circuit. “While our office cannot change that, we can give them closure knowing the animal that did this to them will rot in prison for the next thirteen (13) years.  Afterwards, should he make it to his release date, our office is committed to monitoring him as closely as the law allows so that he cannot again commit sick perversions against the children of this community.”
