Bainbridge run-ruled Early County last Tuesday, lighting up the fifth inning with nine runs and ending the game early for a 19-5 win. The Bearcats only mustered three hits against Veterans a few days later for a 4-1 loss.
The Bearcats are 3-2 on the season, but have a strong outlook for the next stretch of games.
Cayden Sconyers started on the hill, throwing three innings and striking out three Bobcats. He allowed two hits and five runs. Walt Burrell took the last two innings and struck out a couple batters, letting his defense take care of the rest.
Bainbridge racked up 13 hits, with almost every batter getting a piece of one of the five pitchers Early County put on the mound. Caleb Boutwell, Grififn Long, Conner Strickland, Dalton Harrell and Nick Barber all got multiple hits for Bainbridge.
Despite outhitting Veterans 3-1, Bainbridge couldn’t carry the momentum from Tuesday’s win.
Nick Barber allowed two earned runs through his 2 and 2/3 innings and struck out two. Kaleb Varnum allowed a run and struck out one batter.
Boutwell, Varnum and Michael Conder were responsible for Bainbridge’s three hits.
