Stevens makes history at Limestone College

Tara Stevens, former Lady Cat and a freshman at Limestone College, made history at Conference Carolina Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina, by becoming the first swimmer to take the Gold for Limestone College in an individual event.

She placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle which earned her the top spot as well as All-Conference Honors. Stevens earned her second conference crown in the 500 yard freestyle taking first, finishing 8 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor and just missing an NCAA cut by .27 seconds!.

Tara added a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle coming in just .36 seconds behind the first place finish.

She also swam backstroke in the 400 yard medley relay which took a third place finish. By the end of the championship meet the women’s team finished in fourth place over all.

Stevens was also named the Conference Rookie (Freshman) of the Year.

She has also been named to the Presidential Honor Roll for her first semester grades while being a fulltime student athlete.
