Nellie Jack Dismuke Tharp

Nellie Jack “Smoogie” Dismuke Tharp, 72 of Grays Landing, passed peacefully February 16th, 2018 at Community Hospice House in Vidalia, Georgia.  Ms. Tharp was born June 7th, 1945 to the late Woodrow Dismuke and Rose Ann Higgs in Toombs County Georgia. She was a retired electrician from Shaw Industries in Bainbridge, Georgia.  Ms. Tharp was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dean Taylor, brother David “Bo” Dismuke, brother Donnie Ray “PG” Dismuke and wife Irene, brother Gary “Ham” Dismuke, and son, William “Skeebo” Smith.

She leaves to treasure her memory daughter Robin (Deron) Lindsey of Lyons, son Wayne (Paula) Smith of Colbert, daughter Lisa (Tracy) Weaver of Blakely, son Lloyd Smith of Bogart, brother Kendall (Eveline) Dismuke, brother Danny (Laurie) Dismuke, brother Tommy Dismuke, sister-in-law, Gloria Dismuke all of Lyons and lifelong best friend, Martha Henry Kight of Grays Landing.  She has 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 24th at Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park in Reidsville following a covered luncheon at noon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice House, 904 Mount Vernon Road, Vidalia, Georgia.
