Interested in being a poll worker?

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, beginning at 5 p.m., a poll worker orientation meeting will be held at the Fairgrounds precinct located at 1211 Vada Road.
Join us and learn what we expect from our terrific group of poll workers. These positions are paid, you are paid for the training and we provide lunch on Election Day. There are limited positions and our current poll workers will get first consideration; however, we are always willing to welcome new poll workers who are committed to our mission.
Mandatory training and knowledge tests of the material is required. You must be a resident of Decatur County or work in Decatur County, be able to read, write and speak English, be 16 years old or older, and not be a candidate nor a close relative of a candidate who will appear on the ballot.
The 2018 election season kicks off with the May 22nd Primary/Non-Partisan Election. The runoff is July 24 and the General Election on Nov. 6. Advance voting begins three weeks prior to those elections, and workers are also welcomed to sign up to work during those times.
The Decatur County Board of Elections monthly meeting follows the orientation meeting, so please stay for that meeting. A secondary orientation meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Elections Office, Courthouse Annex at 122 W. Water St.
