Joan Elizabeth (Peanut) Blocker Chase, 66 passed away peacefully at her home on 1/14/2018. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 1/20/2018, 11 a.m. at Franklin Baptist Church with a reception following the service at the Fellowship Hall.
Joan was born in Quincy, Fla. and was raised in the Bettstown Community. She had lived in Tallahassee for a number of years and moved back to Bettstown in 1994. She graduated from Bainbridge High School and worked with the State of Florida, Division of Blind Services, then with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles until she became disabled.
Joan is survived by her daughter; Samantha Blocker Hurst of Bettstown, a son; Miles E. Nelson, Jr. (Georgia) of Tallahassee, a step-daughter; Heather Thursby, her husband, Robert and their children; McKinsey Trim and Joseph Thursby, her granddaughter; Bella Rose Nelson of Paris, Arkansas, three sisters; Lois B. Gainey, Marilyn Blocker, and Jo B. Pitman all of Bettstown, two brothers; Kenneth Blocker (Mickey) of Bainbridge, and Jeffery Blocker (Ann) of Grady, Ala., a host of nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; Cleveland and Hortense Blocker, her husband, Stanley Chase, a brother; Danny Blocker.
