Bearcats snag region win, lose to Drew High

The Bearcats (5-13) got down early last Friday night against Veterans, but Bainbridge came back and held strong to beat the Warhawks 55-50.
Bainbridg was behind 12-9 at the end of the first quarter, but came back to tie the contest 28-28 at halftime. The team kept grinding away and topped Veterans in the third quarter 15-11 and outscored them again in the four 13-12.
The Bearcats were led by Deunta Gardner with 14 points. He was 6-of-14 from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Gardner also had 9 rebounds and 2 assists.
Bryce Jones and Jeremiah Davis each scored 12 points for the Bearcats. Both players also had 5 rebounds. Behind him was David Smart with 6 points and 7 rebounds. Dewayne Kyles led in assists with 5.
Saturday, the Bearcats travelled to Drew High School in Riverdale and fell in a tight 54-53 game.
The Titans led 14-9 after one quarter, and Bainbridge fought back to win the second 17-16. Drew won the third quarter 12-10 and Bainbridge fought back in the fourth 15-14.
Gardner had a huge game for the Bearcats, getting a double-double by scoring 22 points and snagging 13 rebounds. Behind him was Bryce Jones and Dewayne Kyles with 7 each, David Smart with 6, Tevin Price with 5 and Clay Jeffery and Jeremiah Davis with 3 each.
