Lady Cougars come just short in hard-fought game against Sherwood

In a low-scoring battle that was defined by the fourth quarter, the Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars came away with a loss against Sherwood Christian Academy on Thursday.
GCA played solid defense up until the end, allowing Sherwood to pour in 13 points for a 29-27 win. Grace was trailing 4-2 after the first quarter and came back to take a 9-7 lead at halftime. Sherwood poured in 9 points in the third to GCA’s 1 point.
Emellia Woodrum led the way in scoring for the Lady Cougars. She had 15 points, and looked strong at the free throw line, going 7-for-9. She had one steal, one rebound and one assist.
Ella Harrell had 6 points and also looked good from the free throw line, going 2-for-3. Mallie Andrews had 4 points and Carly Godwin had 2 points.
McRae grabbed 3 offensive rebounds and 4 defensive rounds, and had 2 steals.
The Lady Cougars played Friday at home against Georgia Christian and will play Highland in Valdosta next Tuesday. Tipoff is at 6:30 p.m.
