Mrs. Nora Katherine (Kathy) Colwell
Mrs. Nora Katherine (Kathy) Colwell, age 64, passed away very suddenly on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia. Services for Mrs. Colwell will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 29, at Eldorendo Baptist Church, Eldorendo, Georgia. The Rev. Harold Burrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Eldorendo Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1 p.m.
Nora Katherine (Kathy) Nix was born January 2, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Malvin P. Nix and Katie Phillips Nix Dasher. She married the love of her life, Glenn William Colwell. She and Glenn have enjoyed life together for 46 years. Kathy was smart, kind, and beautiful. She was a devoted mother and wife. Mrs. Colwell was a counselor at New Beginning, Miller County Hospital. She dearly loved her job. The geriatric patients that she worked with loved Kathy and appreciated how she carried out her work. Kathy crocheted and played the piano beautifully. She was a published writer. Kathy was also a breast cancer warrior. She battled and beat breast cancer. Kathy Colwell will be sorely missed by her many, many friends and the family she loved so very much.
Mrs. Colwell is survived by her husband, Glenn William Colwell; daughter, Heather Lynn Colwell; mother, Katie A. Dasher; sisters, Sandra Ecklund and Brenda Pearlman and husband, Jay; grandchildren, Haley Colwell and Summer Colwell; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. She was preceded in death by her son, Erik Matthew Colwell and sister, Rebecca Nix.
