Don Sickmon

“Don” Lyle Sickmon, 80, of 128 Pittman Circle, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017, at the Cottingham Hospice House.

Born in Cortland, NY, he was the son of the late Lyle Ward and Mildred Hazel Carey Sickmon. Mr. Sickmon was the former owner and operator of Attapulgus Grocery and Hardware in Attapulgus, Ga., and later worked for Duke Power where he retired. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, was an active member of the Seneca Lions Club and a past member of the Bainbridge Lions Club since 1973. Mr. Sickmon also was a member of Westminster Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include a son, Gregory “Greg” Scott Sickmon of Attapulgus; daughters, Donna Griffin (David) of Smith’s Station Ala. and Ginger Barber (Steve) of Waleska, Ga.; twin brother, Ronald “Ron” Ward Sickmon of Cortland, NY and brother, Paul Edwin Sickmon of Ocala, Fla.; sisters, Helen Pittman of Westminster and Elaine Warren of McGraw, NY; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Chapel of Sandifer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Friday, December 29, 2017 at Sandifer Funeral Home.
