Rome or Warner Robins? A State Championship of powerhouses

If you follow high school football, you may be familiar with the current predicament some of the best teams around the state have found themselves in.
The State Championships for classes AAAA, AAAAA, AAAAAA and AAAAAAA were postponed from last Friday to this Friday due to weather concerns. What makes it interesting is these games will be played at the higher seeds’ home fields (tied seeds flipped a coin).
Two teams that Bainbridge is pretty familiar with, Rome and Warner Robins, will play for the 5A State Championship Friday evening at McConnell Talbert Stadium, the same place the Bearcats played and lost to the Demons.
Last season, Bainbridge was shutout 45-0 in the second round of the playoffs against Rome. That was a tough environment to play in. It was cold and hostile. The Wolves continued their rampaging run all the way to the State title. Now they’re going to try and do a repeat in Warner Robins.
I can’t decide if I want to cheer for the Demons or not. They are in Bainbridge’s region and represent our neck of the woods (sort of… I guess they’re more middle Georgia).
On the other hand, the Demons beat Bainbridge pretty badly. I don’t know if I can say “Go Demons” after they throttled us 35-6.
There is no scenario where I would cheer for Rome, though. They look to be even better than they were last year and the pain of last year’s loss still stings a little.
Ah, to heck with it. Go Demons! Only for one night, though.
