Evelyn Cox, 103, of Sebring, Florida, died November 6, 2017, at Good Shepherd Hospice. She was born in Bainbridge, Ga., moving to St. Augustine, Fla., and attended Kattalinis High School. She had worked for the telephone company in Jacksonville. Evelyn married Ira LaRue Cox, moving to Hialeah, Fla. in 1951. She was a member of the O.E.S., St. Augustine, and a long time member and former secretary at Alaphatta Baptist Church. She was a former banker with Hialeah Miami Bank and had also worked at Eastern Airlines. A past president of Telcom and a member of Pioneers of America; a member of the Highlands Regional Medical Auxiliary, she moved to Spring Lake in 1977, and a former member of First Baptist Church of Lorida. She is currently a member of Bainbridge, Ga. Baptist Church and attended Avon Park Lakes Baptist Church.

She leaves behind a son, Kenneth G. Cox, Cooper City, Fla.; daughter, Iralyn (Marion) Snyder, Nokomis, Fla.; grandchildren, Eric T. Snyder, Andrew Snyder, Tata Jehu, William T. Snyder Jr. and Erin Snyder; great-grandchildren, Melanie Marion Jehu, Keith Palmer Jehu, Adeline Irene Jehu, Eliza Bryn Jehu and Cecelia Mae Jehu.

Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Morris Funeral Chapel. Eastern Star service at 11 a.m. with a funeral service to follow. Burial will be Wednesday, 12 noon at Oak City Cemetery, Bainbridge. Memorial donations are requested to OES, St. Augustine, or 1st Baptist Church, Bainbridge, Ga.
