Virginia Montzse Shuttlesworth was born January 11, 1917, in Bibb County, Alabama, the daughter of John Kelly Shuttlesworth and Nettie Lou Gibson Shuttlesworth. She married Blackshear Boy “B.B.” Lambert, who preceded her in death. She lived in Hazelhurst, Ga. and Texas before returning to Decatur County in 1995, and making her home in the Bethany Community. Miss Virginia was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Miss Virginia was a kind soul with a sweet spirit. She loved her family and spent her life taking care of them. “Granny” has been described as a “homemaker’s homemaker”; she cooked, baked and crocheted just about anything. When she decided to take a little break, Miss Virginia would work on word search puzzles, read or go shopping.

Survivors include her children, Annette Inmon of Eustace, Texas, Lynn Claridy also of Eustace, and John Allen Lambert of Waco, Texas; her twelve grandchildren, William, Vicki, Elijah, Shannon, Michael, Michelle, Mike, Crystal, Terry, Renee and Shawna; her twenty-four great-grandchildren, including her caretakers, Jule and Natasha Powell; and her nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Miss Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, B.B. Lambert; her daughter, Lucile Overstreet; her siblings, Leander, Lucile, Audrey, Nora, Ladys, Pauline, and Juanita; and her grandchildren, Rhonda West, Robert Knight, Debra Batton and Christopher Wooten.

The family wishes to extend special appreciation to her grandson-in-law, Walter West, and Sheila Brock for their selfless love and care.
