Emergency responders were called to a single-vehicle accident on Belcher Lane in Bainbridge around 10:20 a.m. this morning.

A car had driven off the road and down a hill, crashing into a line of trees that prevented the vehicle from turning over and falling down the hill even farther.

The driver and passenger of the escaped. When police and EMS arrived on scene, other people who were passing by were already helping them, police said.

The two women were taken to Memorial Hospital with head injuries. They were able to walk.

It is unknown at this time what caused the car to drive off the road.
