The Kiwanis Club of Bainbridge is conducting a shoe drive fundraiser from October 4th- November 4th to raise funds for the Eliminate Project.

Kiwanis will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected.  The club’s goal is to collect 2500 pairs of shoes.

Anyone can help by donating shoes at multiple locations in town.  Sites include:  Coopers Heating & Air, Family Bank, Flowers & More, First Port City Bank, James Robinson Taekwondo, Anytime Fitness, First State Bank, Bainbridge State College, City Hall and the Decatur County Clerk’s Office.

If your business is interested in donation or being a drop location, please contact a Kiwanis member.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.

Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe and house their families. Shoes are sent to 25 countries including Haiti and Guatemala.

By donating, the shoes will be given a second chance, they won’t end up in a landfill and you’ll help make a difference in people’s lives around the world.

“We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets.  We would love to take them off of your hands! By doing so, we raise money for the Eliminate Project and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Kiwanis Clubs around the globe focus on changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time.

For more than a century, Kiwanis has created opportunities for children to be curious, safe and healthy regardless of the community in which they live.  When you give a child the chance to learn, experience, dream, grow, succeed and thrive, great things can happen.

The Eliminate Project aims to eradicate maternal and neonatal tetanus.

For each 5 pairs of shoes donated, the club will be able to provide the funds to save 1 child’s life.
