The Bainbridge eighth grade Bearcats team pulled away from a tied game in the third quarter and beat the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets 20-8.
The win puts the eighth grade team at 3-0 this season.
TCC scored early on their first drive when the Yellow Jacket quarterback bolted for an 11-yard score and added a 2-point conversion.
Bainbridge came in and tied the game 8-8 when quarterback Deyon Bouie ran 15 yards for a touchdown and Zion Bouie punched the ball in for a 2-point conversion.
The Bearcats struck again in the third quarter on a 2-yard score from Deyon, but Zion’s 2-point conversion fell short. Defensive tackle Jashon Mitchell set up the touchdown with a blocked punt and a return to the 10-yard line. Mitchell also had two fumble recoveries.
Bainbridge put the cherry on top with just under a minute left in the game. Zion Bouie hustled 38-yards for a touchdown.
Bainbridge played on Thursday after having a game the previous Saturday due to Hurricane Irma.
