After her retirement and move to Bainbridge, Mavis was an active member of Bainbridge Country Club where she thoroughly enjoyed Friday night activities and a good round of golf. She was a fantastic cook and her family’s favorites were “anything she cooked”. Mavis had a special cheesecake recipe that was out of this world. She also mastered prime rib recipes and canning. Just recently she “put up” figs from her brother’s trees. Mavis has been described as a good mother and sister who will live forever in their hearts.

Survivors include her children, Robert Bloom and his wife, Daneen, of Maryland, Vivia Nottingham and her husband, Ron, of California, and Lewis Bloom and his wife, Victoria, also of Maryland; her brothers, Oliver Smith and Eddie Smith; her eight grandchildren; and her four great-grandchildren. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Robert “Bill” Bloom; her son, Frank Bloom; and her sister, Vera Smith Gibson.
