Lady Cat softball falls short against Harris County

Thursday night the Lady Cats played Harris County in a double header, with Harris County winning game 1, 9-4 and winning game 2, 4-2.
Early in game 1, the Lady Cats struggled to keep up. Harris County scored on a double by #20 in the first inning and three singles in the second inning. However, BHS had tied it up in the bottom of the second, when #28 singled off of pitcher, Abbey Gardner, driving in two runs.
Number 14 earned the win for Harris County. She pitched five innings, allowing two runs, five hits and striking out four. Lexie Delbrey took the loss for the Lady Cats. She threw one inning, surrendering four runs, one hit, striking out three and walking one.
Although the Cats collected nine hits, Harris County collected more with 14. Delbrey, Makayla Hamilton and Gardner each collected multiple hits for the team, with Gardner, Mabry Grace Briggs and Hamilton each driving in runs. Numbers 00, 23, 20, 10 and 12 each collected multiple hits for Harris County, helping them win the game.
Game 2 was tight, but Harris County pulled out the victory in the top of the fifth. BHS took an early lead in the first inning with Gardner driving in one when she singled in the first inning. Harris County then scored one in the top of the third, with Delbrey doubling off #22, driving in one run.
Harris County evened up the game, scoring one run on an error made by the Lady Cats. Although the Cats out-hit Harris County seven to four, they lost. Desirae Beachem and Delbrey each collected multiple hits, with Delbrey and Gardner driving in runs. Number 10 lead Harris County with two hits in four at bats.
