Mediacom is currently monitoring Hurricane Irma, and actively preparing Georgia cable systems in order to minimize service disruptions to customers and ensure the safety of employees.
The latest forecast has shifted slightly west posing an increased threat of hurricane conditions to Mediacom’s cable systems in and around Apalachicola, Florida, and the Georgia service areas. They will be contacting customers today and tomorrow in some areas to reschedule service and installation appointments for Monday and Tuesday. Due to the size and unpredictability of the storm, Mediacom is continuing to prepare in all the Southeast and mid-Atlantic cable systems in the event the track should change.
The following steps are being taken to minimize any potential service interruptions:
1. Portable and back-up generators are being secured in coastal areas, and being topped off with fuel supplies.
2. Fuel, clean up equipment, and restoration supplies are beginning to be stockpiled.
3. Additional field resources are on standby to conduct post storm damage assessments and quickly begin restoration activities.
4. Critical systems and infrastructure are being secured to withstand potential water and hurricane force wind damage in flood prone areas.
