If it weren’t for a storm on its way through Bainbridge, the eighth grade Bearcats might have scored 100 points last Thursday.
Bainbridge was up 38-0 against Thomas County Central halfway through the second quarter when Centennial Field’s lightning detector went off. The weather delay ended the game early, but both team’s coaches agreed the score was final.
The Bearcats went up 8-0 when quarterback Deyon Bouie threw a 65-yard pass to Braxton Johnson and Zion Bouie added a 2-point conversion run.
Deyon Bouie had another big play when he ran 41-yards for the next touchdown. Bainbridge missed on the 2-point conversion. The score became 22-0 when Latravion Bouie ran 27-yards for a touchdown and Deyon added the 2-point conversion.
On the next drive, wide receiver Mason Ard caught a pass with a defender right on top of him, dodged the tackle and sprinted down the sideline for the touchdown to go up 30-0.
Bainbridge’s final score was when Braxton Johnson took a screen pass, then chucked it downfield for Deyon Bouie to catch for a 47-yard score.
Defensive end Ty Finn recovered a TCC fumble at the BMS 42-yard line just before the weather delay, resulting in the final play of the game.
Seventh grade Bearcats
Last Wednesday, the seventh grade Bearcats traveled to TCC and lost 34-14.
Bainbridge tied the score up 8-8 when quarterback Amari Borden ran 1 yard for the score followed by a 2-point conversion from Henry Hill, but The Yellow Jackets ran away with the score. The Bearcats scored again late in the third after a 51-yard pass to Treyvon Campbell.
