Phillip Eugene Thompson

Mr. Phillip Eugene Thompson, age 59, of McDonough, Ga., passed away September 5, 2017. Phillip was born in Barwick, Ga., the son of the late Margaret Sexton Musgrove and Sebring Eugene Thompson. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Burke and a step- brother, Jay Musgrove.

Phillip enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing, cooking, eating out and being a Georgia Bull Dawg Fan. He was known for his sense of humor and giving heart.

Survivors are his wife of 29 years, Sharon Ponder Thompson of McDonough; daughter and sons-in-law, Courtney and Dustin Denson of McDonough and Candace and A. J. Childs of Cairo, Ga.; grandchildren, Kady Ann and Andy Childs of Cairo; sisters, Jackie Pope (Mark) of Bainbridge, Christine Nichols of Albany, Ga.; brother, Chet Musgrove (Melanie) of Auburn, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, September 7, 2017 from 6 – 7 p.m.. Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. in the chapel with Pastors Dustin Denson and Michelle Davis officiating. Interment will follow on Friday, September 8, 2017 – 2 p.m. at Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick, Georgia.
