Lady Cats softball beats Bleckley County, Thomasville in back-to-back home games

Add two more marks in the win column for the Lady Cats.

The Bainbridge softball team defended its home well this week, taking down Bleckley County 5-4 Tuesday and beating Thomasville 5-2 Wednesday at the Lady Cats Diamond.

Freshman Lexie Delbrey pitched all five innings against Bleckley County, allowing two hits, four runs and striking out nine. She held off a rally from the Lady Royals that kept Bainbridge in the lead for the win. They scored four runs in the failed comeback on an error and a home run by Landa Dominy.

An early lead helped propel Bainbridge to victory. The Lady Cats scored on an error and a passed ball in the first inning.

Cy Gant, Desirae Beachem and Mabry Grace Briggs all had one hit to lead Bainbridge.

The following day, Bainbridge didn’t waste any time getting points on the board against the Lady Bulldogs.

With one out in the first inning, Abbey Gardner drove in one run when she singled. Bainbridge scored again in the third, but Thomasville tied things up with a run in the fourth and fifth innings. The Lady Cats rallied in the sixth inning with three runs that sealed the win.

Gardner earned the win for Bainbridge. She tossed seven innings, allowing two runs, four hits, striking out two, and walking one.

The Lady Cats had nine hits in the game. Thyra Jackson, CT Jones and Gardner each collected multiple hits. Gardner, Jones and Jackson all had two hits to lead Bainbridge.

The Lady Cats have a rematch in against the Lady Bulldogs next Wednesday in Thomasville at 6:30 p.m., followed by the first region game of the season at Harris County next Thursday at 4 p.m.
