Kyle Kelley, certified family nurse practitioner, returns to Bainbridge to work full time after years of working as an ER nurse.
Kelley worked as a nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital in high school. After working as an assistant, he eventually transferred to working in the ER as a nurse. When Kelley graduated high school in 2006, he attended Mercer University, where he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He graduated in 2010 and returned to Memorial Hospital to continue working as an ER nurse. It wasn’t long before Kelley realized he wanted to further his education and began nursing school at Keiser University in Tallahassee and received an Associate of Science in Nursing in May 2012.
While working as an ER nurse, Kelley met his wife Katie, who was working as a nurse in the ICU. The two both wanted to be more, so Kelley began working towards his Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Troy University, while still working full time. Katie began working to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. He graduated from Troy in May 2014, and was accepted into their Family Nurse Practitioner Program in the fall of 2014, while still working here. After years of school, he graduated with a Master of Science in nursing this past May.
Kelley knew he wanted to return to Bainbridge. His family is here, and he wanted to begin to raise his family here. His wish came true when Katie gave birth to their first daughter, Carver in January.
Now, Kelley looks forward to taking care of his “hometown people, people he has known his whole life,” he said. He’s excited about interacting with the patients, finding out what’s wrong and helping them feel better. When he’s not helping the patients he looks forward to hunting, fishing and traveling.
