After a strong 2016 season, the Bainbridge cross-country team returns its best runners to make an impact in the region and the state this year.
Bearcat seniors Efrain Diaz and Haydn Griffin are the anchors to a Bainbridge team with lots of younger talent. Sophomore Stokes Moore, who picked it up last season to become the Bearcats’ top runner, will also return.
Aiden and Ashton Matthews, brothers who were known for their speed at Bainbridge Middle School, will be strong additions to the freshman group.
“They were top runners last year that should make a great contribution to the team this year,” coach Lisa Enfinger said.
Tenth grader Andru Matthews will also be a good competitor for the Bearcats.
The Lady Cats’ top runner, senior Uriyah Davis, will lead the girls with senior Camry Fillingame. Viviana Schuyler, a rising ninth grader that Enfinger is excited about, will bring more speed to the Lady Cats’ side.
“Schuyler was the top runner last year for middle school and was a top runner at region,” Enfinger said. “We expect great things from her as well.”
