Bainbridge Public Safety would like to recognize Officer Joshua Glover and Officer Charles Strickland for successfully completing an 80 hour “Hazmat Technician Course” at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center during the weeks of July 10-14 and July 24-28.
The program is designed to train emergency responders for incidents involving hazardous materials and weapons of mass destruction. Responders to these incidents are expected to perform technically advanced operations to mitigate the emergency. The training included identifying hazardous materials, weapons of mass destruction and their characteristics, and toxic effects if released. It also teaches responders to determine and utilize proper personal protective equipment to confine/contain the release and decontamination of personnel or civilians that are involved in the release.
Fire Chief Doyle Welch stated, “Glover and Strickland gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities Emergency Responders need to react in a safe manner to protect themselves and their community”.
Glover and Strickland also received National Professional Qualifications for Hazardous Material Technicians.
