There is lots more preview material coming your way for Bearcat football

As football season fast approaches, the Bearcat team continues to put in the hours in the weight room and on the field.
These boys are the sons, friends and family members of Bainbridge and Decatur County’s residents. They represent our community both on and off the field. They wash away sweat, ice sore muscles and push their young bodies and minds to their limits. All to wear the purple and gold on Friday nights.
To showcase how hard these players have been working and what’s in store for the 2017 season, we will be running a position breakdown every issue over the next four weeks called “What to Watch”. Hear straight from the coaches who is leading in position battles, big players to keep your eyes on throughout the season and get an idea of what the depth chart might look like heading into fall practice.
Our order for position articles will go like this:
- Wednesday, July 12: defensive line
- Saturday, July 15: offensive line
- Wednesday, July 19: running backs
- Saturday, July 22: linebackers
- Wednesday, July 26: wide receivers
- Saturday, July 29: defensive
- Wednesday, Aug. 2: special teams
- Saturday, Aug. 5: quarterbacks
We did something similar in last year’s issues leading up to the season, and were glad to hear the articles were helpful. We hope to bring you an even more in-depth look to Bearcat football this time around.
There’s a lot to be excited for this season. A lot of younger players will have to step up in 2017, guided by a senior class that will fill many key positions across the field. Everyone is sure to have their eyes on senior running back Dameon Pierce, one of the most special players to come from Bainbridge in many years.
There isn’t a lot of time until the Bearcat’s scrimmage against Lowndes on Friday, Aug. 11, at Centennial Field, so be sure to get all your Bearcat football information from The Post-Searchlight.
