John R. “Gomer” Turner, 67, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Friday, July 7, 2017.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, Ga. with Brian Zorn, Matt Musgrove, Bobby Harrell, Chas Harrell, Mickey Martin, James Dotson, Curtis Robinson, and Jut Parker serving as active pallbearers.

Gomer was born July 26, 1949, in Donalsonville, the son of Harold and Sara Raley Turner. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1967, and was a sales representative for Sharber Oil Company. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Gomer enjoyed his family and friends (especially the Flint River Crew) and the Georgia Bulldogs. He was a true friend to those who knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Val Turner of Bainbridge; his daughter, Monica Alday of Bainbridge; and his brother, Jack Turner and his wife, Susan, of Colquitt, Ga.. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Harry Turner.
