Elizabeth Atkinson was born October 28, 1933, in Decatur County, Georgia. Her parents, Ossie Atkinson and Ellie Mae Braswell Atkinson Cloud, preceded her in death. Liz lived in Decatur County most of her life. She married the love of her life, Arlie Eugene (Chuck) Burris. She was a strong-willed, hard-working lady. Liz worked as a seamstress for Williamson- Dickies Manufacturing for 23 years and, then, Jack Winter Company. She drove a school bus for the Decatur County School System until her retirement. She was a member of Blackjack Baptist Church. Mrs. Burris loved to work in her yard and to go fishing. She was, lovingly, given the title “Granny Boots”, due to her love of dancing. She could be caught dancing around the house with her walking cane. Elizabeth (Liz) Burris will be greatly missed by the family and many friends she loved so very much.

Elizabeth Atkinson Burris is survived by her children, Gail Hornsby (Ronnie), Patty Bernier (Tommy), Teresa Torres (Dennis), Alton Kent Burris, and Arlie E. Burris, Jr. (Misty); brothers and sisters, Wendell Atkinson, Lillian Eckenrod, Laverne Brinson, and Francis Myerson; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, newborn son, Larry Burris, sisters, Marjorie Rentz and Myrtle Bentley; and brother, Buddy Cloud.
