With more than 20 years of sidewalk sales behind them, the Downtown Development Authority is ready to make the sale on Friday, June 30, the best one yet.
Shoppers can expect to see numerous businesses that have kept unsold merchandise throughout the year at the sale, and find “a total bargain,” said Amanda Glover, executive director of the DDA.
This year, downtown is preparing for 10-15 businesses to come out and showcase what they have to offer. Most of the stores will be set up with a table on the sidewalk, but stores aligning the square will allow for inside sales.
The sidewalk sale has always taken place the Friday before the Fourth of July. This time of year allows for graduation sales to drop and serve as a “Christmas in July”, said Glover. This creates for a spike and helps the businesses out.
Isabee’s is among one of the many vendors participating in the sale. They intend to have everything on the right wall of their store for sale, along with some jewelry that just arrived.
Along with Isabee’s, Polka Dots & More plans to have signs hanging throughout their store with items ranging 10-80 percent off and do raffle drawings for monograms throughout the day.
Maiden South will be holding a closeout sale featuring jewelry, clothing, home goods and fixtures at their 123 location. The Refinery will be hosting a $5 candle sale outside of the store.
Reeves Linens & Gifts will be selling a variety of items ranging from garden items, home décor, fall scarves, pewter trays, baby items, jewelry, t-shirts and Christmas and holiday items.
In addition to bargains, shoppers can also expect to be able to cool off this year with a treat from Snowbiz.
“We are working to get Snowbiz to come,” said Glover. “This will allow for people to cool off while they walk from store to store.”
The sidewalk sale will take place Friday, June 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and will feature products from A to Z- A Children’s Boutique, Bella’s Boutique, Reca Wear, Maiden South and so much more.
