Ken Phillips, 60, of Lee County, Ga., passed away suddenly May 27, 2017 in Blairsville, Ga., while on his annual family reunion. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Ga., with Rev. James Woods officiating. Internment will follow at Leesburg Cemetery.
Born in Bainbridge, Ga., Mr. Phillips grew up in Climax, Ga., and graduated from Bainbridge High School. He served in the United States Army before moving to Lee County. He was employed with Eidson Paint and Body for 23 years, was employed with Wallace Chevrolet as their body shop manager and was currently employed with Oxford Construction Company.
Phillips was a member of Triangle Lodge #708 F & AM and Hasan Shriners, where he served in the Red Devils Clown Unit. He was a dedicated servant to Hasan Shriners and was awarded the title, Chief Aid Emeritus. He was also a member and past president of the Albany Shrine Club. He loved the outdoors and fishing and hunting. Phillips was preceded in death by his father, Earl Jackson Phillips.
Survivors include his wife, Delores Loveless Phillips, two children, Shane (Blakely) Phillips and Adrienne Phillips all of Lee County, his mother, Adell Boggs Phillips of Climax, a step- son, Shawn (Christy) Vallandingham of Albany, his sister, Phyllis (Tony) Cella of Lake Blackshear, Ga., his grandchildren, Kolby, Emma and Kaleb Phillips, Harley Bridwell and Tyleer, Fuller and Hudson Vallandingham and a great-granddaughter, Anakate Vallandingham.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
