Brandon Dodson, 31, of Tallahassee, Florida, was arrested by Bainbridge Public Safety along with two other passengers in his vehicle Sunday after police found him in possession of meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

BPS officer Jayson Myers pulled Dodson’s vehicle over on Shotwell Street for poorly maintaining his lane.

“That’s a good indicator of someone driving impaired,” Myers said. “With the holiday weekend going on, a lot of people had been drinking and I wanted to make sure they were okay.”

Myers noticed the passengers shuffling around the floorboards as he approached the vehicle. When Myers asked Dodson for his license, he said he didn’t have it on him and it was suspended.

Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jason Williams and PSO Ronald McMillan arrived at the scene to help Myers. When Dodson was asked to step out of the vehicle, McMillan found a marijuana joint sitting in plain view in the driver’s seat.

In Dodson’s pocket was a flashlight found to be filled with three small bags of meth and a suspected blotter of acid.

Myers had the female passenger, Sara Hughes, exit the vehicle. In her purse, McMillan found a bag of marijuana, a used syringe and two rocks of suspected meth. A glass pipe was found in the seat where the second passenger, Michael Ansley, was sitting. A black book bag filled with drug objects like baggies, scales and a used syringe was also found in the vehicle.

All three were handcuffed and placed under arrest.

Based on the evidence, Myers said he believes Dodson was traveling to make a buy somewhere in Bainbridge.
