Ex-Bainbridge Athlete places fourth in NCAA long jump final

Sophomore Cervantes Jackson provided the Albany State Men’s Track & Field team with a top four finish at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Men’s Track & Field Championships. Jackson finished fourth in the men’s long jump.
Jackson recorded a leap of 7.60 to garner fourth place in the event. The jump by Jackson was his personal best for the season. Sedeekie Edie (Lincoln Mo.) won the long jump, recording a leap of 7.77. Marquise Corbett (Tiffin) was second at 7.72, and Lawrence Russell, Jr. (Barton) placed third.
Jackson will compete in the men’s triple jump final on Friday, May 26 at 4:45 p.m. On Saturday, he will contend for the men’s high jump title at 5:30 p.m.
In the 100-meter dash preliminaries, senior Jared Jordan narrowly missed qualifying for Saturday’s final. He ran a 10.50, which was good for ninth place. The top eight runners advance to the finals. Freshman Christopher Jackson ran a 10.65 in the prelims.
