Pierce told ESPN, “When you go to college, you want to have an equal opportunity to play. Of course there’s going to competition everywhere, but sometimes too much competition can be overwhelming.”

His Twitter post stated that after recent conversations with his mom and close friends, opening his recruitment again was best for his future.

Pierce has offers from many Division 1 schools, including Georgia, Florida State and Stanford. He is the No. 5 running back in the class of 2018, the 17th player in Georgia and ranks 144th on the National Composite.

Pierce visited Florida State for Junior Day in February, unofficially visited Florida in March and attended Georgia’s spring game in April.

Last season, Dameon Pierce scored 20 touchdowns on 243 carries for 1,686 yards.

He is a rising senior.
