Lillian Ophelia Griffin was born May 12, 1928, in Baker County, Ga., the daughter of James Harvey Griffin and Mollie Heard Griffin. She was a graduate of Providence High School in Baker County. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Lillian was married to Tom W. Griffin, who preceded her in death.

“Miss” Lillian, also known as “Granny Griffin” to some, adored her family and her church. She served selflessly and loved unconditionally. No one left her home or the church without a bite of her home cooking. “Miss” Lillian was a true farmer’s wife, never shying away from the farm chores. She made her own mark with her beautiful flower gardens and even earned the title of Decatur County Ag Woman of the Year. “Miss” Lillian was a gem to her family and felt her children and grands were the most beautiful blooms in her life’s garden.

Survivors include her children, James Griffin and his wife, Kaye, Janice Griffin Sims, Linda Gail Brown and her husband, George, and Stuart Griffin and his wife, Becky, all of Bainbridge; her sister, Vivian Griffin Ledbetter and her husband, Bill, of Mossy Head, Fa.; her grandchildren, Jim and Misty Griffin, Zane and Ashley Griffin, John Griffin, Barry Webb, Cory Webb, Bo and Cori Griffin, Tom and Nancy Griffin, and Mollie and Matt Roach; and her great-grandchildren, Grayson Griffin, Perry Griffin, Jacob Webb, Katie Griffin, Anna Griffin, Griffin Roach and Hopson Roach. “Miss” Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Tom W. Griffin, and her brother, W. F. “Bill” Griffin.
