Bearcat baseball wins fourth in a row with 10-2 win over Tift

The Bainbridge Bearcats kept on finding the gaps in Tift County’s defense Wednesday night as they beat the Blue Devils 10-2.

Both teams donned special uniforms to commemorate Military Appreciation Night, an event that honored currently active and inactive military personnel around Decatur County.

Bainbridge (14-11, 3-7 Region 1-AAAAA) gave up a home run in the top of the first, but drove in nine runs in the bottom of the first. Tift County scored again in the third inning, but wasn’t able to dig themselves out of the hole.

Clark Wiggins handled all seven innings on the mound and earned the win for the Bearcats, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out seven batters.

In the first inning, Will Kelley singled to drive in two runs, Conner Strickland doubled, driving in one run, Griffin Long singled to drive in two runs, Wiggins singled driving in one run, Inlow singled driving in two runs, and Tift County pitcher Webb induced Bryant to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Bainbridge had 12 hits in the game. Keith Lyle, Kelley, Inlow, and Strickland each collected multiple hits for Bainbridge. Strickland, Inlow, Kelley, and Long each drove in two runs to lead the Bearcats.

Bainbridge didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The Bearcats played Cairo in a doubleheader Friday night and will play again next Monday, April 17, against Early County.

Bainbridge is locked into fourth place in Region 1-AAAAA for the state playoff bracket and is expected to play Star’s Mill (23-3, 17-0 Region 3-AAAAA).
