Bessie Carolyn Bland Ambra, age 87, of Donalsonville, Ga., passed away Wednesday evening, April 5, 2017, at Donalsonville Hospital ER.
Funeral services for Ms. Ambra will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Trawick officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynn Family Cemetery with Kyle Odom, Robby Gullage, Seth Cloud, Brian Pippin, Nyles Odom, and Aiden Tabb serving as active casketbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Ambra was born in Donalsonville, Ga. on Nov. 26, 1929, to D.A. and Berma Braswell Bland. She was a homemaker and an avid admirer of Shepherd’s Chapel.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 32 years, Jeff Maxwell of Donalsonville; two sons, Doug Odom and his wife Pam of Bainbridge, Ga. and Clint Odom and his wife Reeca of Ripley, Miss.; a daughter, Kathy Odom Haley and her husband Don of Donalsonville; and a step-son, Jeremiah Maxwell and his wife Stephanie of Fort Wright, Ky. Ms. Ambra is also survived by three sisters, Louise Carson, Lena Bellflower, and Alice Jordan all of Bainbridge; and a brother, Tommy “Peanut” Bland and his wife Becky of Donalsonville. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews also survive.
Ms. Ambra was preceded in death by her parents, D.A. and Berma Braswell Bland; her husband, Joe Ambra; and her siblings, Dennis Bland, Lucy Wade, Percy Bland, and Joyce Bland.
