The Bainbridge High School Boy’s Varsity soccer team defeated the Berrien County Rebels 1-0 in a tight defensive battle last Thursday night in Nashville at Raymond Jones Memorial stadium.
The lone score of the contest came from a goal by Bearcat Forward Angel Munoz in the 54th minute of the second half.
Munoz had checked back to midfield to receive a pass from Sophomore Midfielder Alfredo Rodriguez. He then quickly moved the ball down the left flank, dribbling past three Rebel defenders before penetrating the Rebel Penalty area. The Berrien Goal keeper came out to pressure him, but Munoz got off a crossing shot from six yards out and into the far netting for the score.
Many Bearcats contributed to the team’s victory on both ends of the field with several daunting attacks and timely defensive stops.
Bearcat Goalkeepers Senior Rayneau Victor and Freshman Arkevious Campbell shared duties between the posts to perserve the shutout.
The Bearcats overall record is 6-7 on the season and will travel to Thomasville on April 11 to battle Thomas County in a region contest.
