Bearcat track races to the top of the pack in Thomasville

The Bainbridge track and field teams had strong performances at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Thomasville, with the Bearcats grabbing second place overall and the Lady Cats claiming fourth.

Seventeen teams competed at the meet. Thirty-five Bearcats and Lady Cats earned medals.

For the Bearcats, Javon Mimms, Andre Jackson, Jordon McMullien and Vonterious Campbell took second place in the 4-by-100 race with a time of 42.41.

The team of Zyon McGee, Jaylyn Scott, LaDerrick Williams and Dameon Pierce took sixth place in the 4-by-100 in 44.34

Javon Mimms, Lance Cosby, Zyon McGee and Dameon Pierce ran the 4-by-200 and took second place in 1:33.38.

The team of La’Derrick Murphy, Rashad Odom, Vonterious Campball and Jaylyn Scott came in second 4-by-400 with a time of 3:32.50.

The Bearcats had two individual first placers. Jalyn Scott took first in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 39:86 and Vonderious Campbell took first in the 200-meter hurdles in 22.12.

Other individual Bearcats that placed were JaMarvin Bouie in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 44.59 to take 6th place, Campbell in the 100-meter in a time of 10.86 for second place, Andre Jackson in the 100-meter with a time of 10.97 for third place, Jordan McMullien in the 200-meter with a time of 23.40 for seventh place, Jaylyn Scott in the 110 hurdles for a second place time of 15.74, Bouie in the 110 hurdles for an eighth place time of 18.83, Aaron Lewis in the 800-meter for a fourth place time of 2:12.69, Alexander Coleman in the 1600 meter for a fourth place time of 5:07.88 and Haydn Griffin in the 1600 meter for a seventh place time of 5:13.64.

Efrain Diaz snagged fourth place in the 3200 meter race with a time of 11:18.24 and Griffin took sixth place in the 3200 meter with a time of 11:36.71. Rashad Odom took fourth in the high jump and Jaylyn Scott took fifth place. McGee took second in the long jump and Odom took eighth place. Coming in second for the triple jump was McGee and Tremayne Campbell took eight place in the triple jump. Roman Harrison came in third place in the discus competition and came in eighth place at eighth in the shot put.

The Lady Cats fourth place finish came from a combined effort of many talented athletes.

The team of Tyra Jackson, Tyesha Binyard, Brenna Frazier and Cyan Gant came in second place in the 4-by-100 with a time of 49.90.

Brenna Frazier, Destiny Turner, Tyra Jackson and Iesha Smart ran the 4-by-200 and came in fourth place with a time of 1:52.46.

Tyaisha Gant, Caitlin Miller, Cyan Gant and Amaia Taylor came in fourth in the 4-by-400  with a time of 4:27.45.

Tyesha Binyard came in second place in the 100-meter with a time of 12.88, Brenna Frazier claimed eighth place in the 100-meter with a time of 13.18, Tyesha Binyard took second place in the 20-meter with a time of 27.00, Mabry-Grace Briggs took fifth in the 800-meter with a time of 2:39.16, Caitlin Miller found eighth place in the 800 meter with a time of 2:43.55, Uriyah Davis took fourth place in the 1600 meter with a time of 6:19.02 and Camry Fillingame found fifth place in the 1600 meter with a time of 6:22.36.

Uriyah Davis came in second place in the 3200 meter with a time of 13:10.55 and Camry Fillingame took fourth place with a time of 13:48.21.

Amaia Taylor came in third in the 100 meter hurdles with a 17.45 time and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a 51.02. Tykeia Campbell also ran the 300-meter hurdles and finished eighth with a time of 51.69.

Destiny Turner came in third in the high jump and Cyan Gant came in eighth. Destiny Turner also compete in the long jump and came in seventh.

Iesha Smart came in second in the triple jump and Kiara Martin took fourth.

Dyshayla Henderson found eighth place in discus and Caron Baulkman came in seventh at the shot put.
